Description: Baeomyces Pers. Image location: Rio Azul Natural Protected Area, El Bolson, Rio Negro, Argentina Habitat: Near and in ancient Los Alerces forest groves (said to be 2,000-3,000+ years old): Fitzroya cupressoides within 20m of small creeks, dense canopy cover, high humidity. Elevation approximately 1000m. Substrate: Rock. Appears to be igneous – granite-like type. Description: Primary thallus is light green saxicolous crust, secondary thallus looks like a light pink jelly-fungi-like basidiomycete, in some cases stalk growing upwards more than 2-3mm above primary thallus. Never seen anything like these ones before… No specimen collected. This lichen seen at other locations in general area, morphological characteristics appeared consistent at these different locations.
