Neophema splendida -Gluepot Reserve -male-8
Description:
Description: Neophema splendida English: An immature male Scarlet-chested Parrot at Gluepot Reserve, South Australia, Australia. Gluepot Reserve, which is a 54,000 hectare property owned by Birds Australia in Mallee country north of Waikerie, formerly a cattle station (read more about Gluepot Reserve). One of the reasons Birds Australia bought this property was to protect this rare species. It is a bird of the arid interior of Australia, and though deemed of Least Concern it is thinly spread and rarely encountered. We were fortunate enough to find a pair of immature birds when they came in to drink at a watering point (which has a bird hide next to it), with a flock of about 70 Mulga Parrots.
