Pyxine sorediata (Ach.) Mont 227790

Image of Teloschistales

Description:

Summary[edit] Description: Pyxine sorediata (Ach.) Mont. Image location: Jamor, Oeiras, Portugal As I mentioned in other observations some coincidences may happen when looking for lichens. This particular species, the unique of the genus Pyxine I encountered up to now, I saw before half a dozens of times, say. This particular day I observed it twice in two different places, separated by more than 1 Km. At the 2nd place I also observed (what I believe to be) another species of Pyxine. A special reference to the underside: mostly black and near the margin becomes whitish and some bluish tons, surrounding the margin. This is mentioned to happen in this genus, according to the reference. Also to mention that both this specimen and the one in observation 97305 have plently of brown dots on the thallus: I don’t know if these are pycnidia (according to the reference the pycnidia in this species is immersed) or some parasite.
