Description:
Iris munzii—Munz's iris. Included in the CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants on list 1B.3 (rare, threatened, or endangered in CA and elsewhere). Six populations in the Sierra foothills near the Tule River in Tulare County. The species has thrived at the Regional Parks Botanic Garden and gives a two-month display beginning in March of every year. Some references calls Munz's Iris the largest California iris but don't bet the house on that. Photographed at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA.
