Leaves , oppositely arranged, look like daggers ; Flowers , drooping , look like night lamps mid portion of which is purple ; The leaves are edible ; The plant is a famine food ; Cooked leaves are good to down the heat of body and that of eyes ;Masticating the leaves is remedy for mouth sore .Flowers – july-february .
