Summary[edit] Description: English: Kaempferia galangal. Cekur (Malay). Kencur. Maraba,Finger root, Chinese ginger. 山奈 (shān nài) or 沙姜 (shā jiāng) (Chinese) Southeast Asian spice. Used in Thailand as vegetables or added to curry. Leaves and rhizome are eaten raw in ulam with sambal belacan. used in an Indonesian herbal concoction known as jamu to treat pains.
