Summary[edit] Description: English: Chrysops excitans Walker, 1850 - deer fly in Ontario, Canada. (13 July 2012) Deer flies are biting flies that feed on blood, principally from mammals. Notice the mouth apparatus - those structures are used to cut through the skin of victims.
