Description:
Summary[edit] Description: The claret cup (Echinocereus triglochidiatus) cactus is sometimes comprised of 100 or more stems tightly grouped into a cluster. In early spring, the plant will blossom from these stems with waxy scarlet flowers. Surprisingly, these beautiful flowers are mainly pollinated by hummingbirds rather than the usual cacti pollinators, bees and beetles. NPS Photo/Jonathan Fortner. Date: 7 May 2011, 16:06.
