Summary[edit] Description: Image taken near Tendaba, The Gambia. An adult bird in typical feeding mode. The bill is scissored through the host's fur picking up small parasites. Oxpeckers also pick away at wounds & sores -often keeping them open; a significant part of their diet consists of the host's blood and tissue!. Date: 13 October 2008, 19:02.
