Description:
Fragaria chiloensis—beach strawberry. One of the parents of the modern commercial strawberry. Found along the beaches and adjacent grasslands from Ventura County in California north to Alaska. Also,large populations thought to have been dispersed by birds grow in similar habitat in South America and the mountains of Maui. Makes a great ground cover. Photographed at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA.
