Felicia echinata Betty's Bay wide
Description:
Very probably dune daisy or prickly felicia Felicia echinata as in Fieldguide to Fynbos (John Manning p.453), however, far outside the indicated distribution. This was an about 70 cm high shrub with leathery leaves at an upward angle, closer than their length, flower heads large with blue-purple ligulate florets. Look-a-like Polyarrhena reflexa has white ligulate florets, tinged purple on the reverse and a fringe of thorn-like hair along the leaf margin. As this was taken along the streets of Betty's Bay, the plant may have escaped from a nearby garden.
