Description:
Common names - Spiderwort; Dayflower: Widow’s tears. Botanical name - Commelina communis f. albiflora Tamil name – VELLAIPPUK KANAVAZHAI ‘white-flowered unseen plantain’ Nativity - East Asia and northern parts of Southeast Asia.
As per researches, the plant is used for skin infections such as boils ; Juice is taken for diarrhoea. Plant- paste is applied externally for arthritis;The sap of the crushed plant is also put on inflamed eyes;In India it is also used to cure fever and bilious disorders and as an antidote for snake poisons; For diabetes also, the plant is used as a medicine .
