SWORD FISH. flying fish are being pursued by sword fish; alHgators are lazilydisporting themselves on a p*-reedy bank or swimming ina bayou; while anothergroup represents the spor-tive froof enoraored in charac-teristic gambols, or quietlysitting on the oozy shore. Another row of smaller aquaria extend around the building, nextto its outer wall, an arched walk leading between the outer and inner row of tanks, and affordingthe visitor an opportunityto see a wealth of aquaticlife, marine and fluvial, suchas was never before seen ata Worlds Fair. Here theroyal brook trout, whosespotted iridescent sidesgleam beautifully, andwhose orraceful motionshold crowds entranced,divides honors with theplebeian catfish, the carp, the many-hued sea anemone, or the odd-shaped horseshoe crab, that carry on their life-work here quiteindifferent and unconsciousof the thousands of humaneyes that gaze upon themhour after hour, absorbedto such an extent that theremainder of the Fair isquite forgotten.
