Description:
Nature reserve "Allgäuer Hochalpen" (NSG 00400.01): At an altitude of about 1800 m, the Schneck is behind the photographer. The valley in front belongs to the Stierbach in the upper Bärgündele valley. In the background the ridges and summits of Kreuzkopf and Wiedemer Kopf can be seen. The little pond is reddish brown due to an algal bloom, caused by Planktothrix rubescens. That species of cyanobacteria prefers clear, standing water, which is poor in nutrients.
