Description:
Sword fern Polystichum munitum The sword fern's fiddleheads are distinct from the fiddleheads you might be more familiar with at the market in that they are more treble-clef looking than actual fiddle head. These are not the edible sorts of fiddle heads. From Wikipedia: In spring, with no other food available, Quileute, Makah, Klallam, Squamish, Sechelt, Haida, and other Native American/First Nations peoples, roasted, peeled and ate the rhizomes.
