Summary[edit] Description: English: Female "Velvet Spider". Family Eresidae, probable Genus Dresserus, or just possibly Gandanameno, which are common in Southern Africa. Date: 23 February 2011. Source: Self-photographed. Author: JonRichfield. Both Dresserus and Gandanameno closely resemble the Genus Eresus, which occurs in the Northern Hemisphere, and both used to be included in Eresus. Size fairly large, perhaps 2 cm. In spite of large chelicerae, inoffensive. Usually sit with legs close to body.
