Summary[edit] Description: Russula subtilis Burlingham Image location: Bent Creek, North Carolina, USA Found scattered along a steamy bottomland stream bank in a mature, mixed woods, predominantly beech and oaks, occasional pines. Cap diameters to 39 mm. Cuticle peelable almost to the center. Stipes hollow in all specimens. Odor not distinctive. Taste slowly and mildly acrid. Spore deposit pale cream.
