Description:

Summary[edit] Description: English: Figure 2. Morphology of representatives of Kinetoplastea (Trypanosoma brucei), Diplonemea (Diplonema papillatum), and Euglenida (Euglena gracilis). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) (a, d, g) and differential interference contrast (DIC) (b, e, h) reveal cell morphology, whereas 4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) staining provides information about the amount and distribution of mitochondrial DNA (c, f, i). (c) Trypanosoma with distinct nucleus (N) and kinetoplast (K). (f) In Diplonema, arrows point to large amounts of mitochondrial DNA meandering through the cell. Scale bars = 1 μm (a, d) and 10 μm (g). Date: 29 November 2016. Source: From simple to supercomplex: mitochondrial genomes of euglenozoan protists [version 2; referees: 2 approved].
