Description:
This Salvin's Prion was wrecked in the storms in July 2011 in southern North Island was was being cared for in Johnsonvllle near Wellington. It was one of about three of this species I saw amongst hundreds of Broad-billed Prions. It is almost indistinguishable from the Antarctic Prion, in the hand it is separated by the wider bill and the visible lamellae (teeth like serrations) at the base of the bill.
