Image of Anaxyrus Tschudi 1845

Description:

Summary[edit] Description: The Great Plains Toad (Bufo cognatus) is not uncommon, but is easily overlooked. These toads are excellent burrowers, and dig into the ground below the frost line to pass the cold, North Dakotan winters. This species ranges from Alberta, down through the Great Plains states to Texas, and over into New Mexico and Arizona. This fellow was on a section line leading into the Heine WPA in Dickey County, North Dakota. Photo Credit: Krista Lundgren/USFWS. Date: 17 September 2014, 10:46. Source: Great Plains Toad.
