Description:

Summary[edit] Description: Cinnamon teal are one the most common species of waterfowl nesting on Seedskadee NWR. There are also blue-winged teal nesting here, and the hens look almost identical. The slightly spatulate tip of the bill on this cinnamon teal hen and her brood identify them from blue-winged teal, which do not have the spatulate tip. Cinnamon teal are some of the first nesting ducks to leave Seedskadee NWR. Soon after this brood can fly, they will begin migration, usually by the first week in September. We will have to wait till next spring to see them again. Photo: Tom Koerner/USFWS. Date: 21 August 2014, 19:39. Source: Cinnamon teal brood Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge 01.
