Beachte die weißen Hinterleibsanhänge und – als Unterschied zur Zierlichen Moosjungfer (Leucorrhinia caudalis) – die schwarzen, nur außen weiß beränderten Flügelmale. Die Östliche Moosjungfer gilt in Deutschland als vom Aussterben bedroht und ist sehr selten. Das Tier sitzt auf einer Sumpfbinse (Eleocharis palustris agg.) am Ufer eines mesotrophen Waldweihers.
