Wild Pandan leaves at Mossy Forest, Cameron Highlands
Description:
Summary[edit] Description: English: Picture taken at Mossy Forest, Cameron Highlands, Pahang. (Evergreen forest with a high pedestrian boardwalk through ferns, moss, orchids & other plant life). Pandanus amaryllifolius (also known as Pandan) is a tropical plant in the Pandanus (screwpine) genus. A herbaceous tropical plant that grows abundantly in Southeast Asia. In Chinese, it is known as "fragrant plant" because of its unique, sweet aroma. The cultivated plant, which is similar to the palm, features upright bright green leaves that are long, slender, and spiky. Mossy Forest is a natural environment that grows only at the highest elevations of Cameron Highlands and other mountain ranges across Malaysia. At such heights, low-level clouds in the sky driven by winds, blanket the forests with constant mist and moisture- creating an ideal biotope for moss, ferns, lichen and orchids.
