Description:

Summary[edit] Description: English: Aratus Pisonii (Mangrove Tree Crab) from the Indian River Lagoon Preserve Park, New Smyrna Beach, Florida I took this photo at low tide at the Indian River Lagoon Preserve Park located at 663 Sandpiper Ave. West of Saxon Drive on the beachside, New Smyrna Beach, Florida. ( Visit this site for more information on the park : www.cityofnsb.com/07_0130_IndianRiverLagoon.html ) These wonderful little crabs can be found on trees close to waters edge, decaying, fallen logs and the poles supporting docks when the tide goes out. They have excellent vision and are lightening fast in escaping your view making them a bit tricky to photograph:) This small preserve is full of oysters, mussels and mangroves. Beautiful Herons, egrets and other magnificent, tropical water fowl can be seen here. Thanks to the preserve, they remain safe. Equipment used : Nikon D200 with a Tamron 18-250mm lens. No image stabilization. Date: 21 June 2008, 16:49. Source: Aratus Pisonii (Mangrove Tree Crab) from the Indian River Lagoon Preserve Park, New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
