Summary[edit] Description: English: Empon-empon is a rhizome that is used as a traditional herb. Rhizomes are plant stems that run underground. This stem produces buds towards the top and roots downwards. Examples of rhizomes include ginger, lemongrass, and galangal. Kencur, turmeric, and temulawak which are often processed into herbal medicine are also included in this group of plants. Bahasa Indonesia: Empon-empon adalah rimpang yang digunakan sebagai ramuan tradisional. Rimpang adalah batang tanaman yang menjalar ke bawah tanah. Batang ini menghasilkan kuncup ke arah atas dan akar ke bawah. Contoh rimpang antara lain jahe, serai, serta lengkuas.
