Description:
Description: One unique find I discovered back in NTU grounds last year, along with some macrobot friends. It was (actually) an accidental encounter for me on this very tiny bug. It's called a beetle fly [Celyphidae]. Not much known on the biology of these tiny insects. Also known as beetle-backed flies, belonging to the family of flies [Diptera order]. They have their scetellum that forms a shell over their abdomen, thus giving their beetle-like appearance. This is not much of a picture, as I mentioned, this is an accidental shot as I was rather focused on another insect, a common dragonfly nearby. Date: 31 January 2013, 21:17.
