Summary[edit] Description: This wren has a wide distribution across semi-deciduous forests and semi-open scrubland of Central America and northern South America. Other three Thryophilus taxa occur in Colombia, the rufalbus subspecies cumanensis in the northern lowlands, the endemic Niceforo's Wren (Thryophilus nicefori) of the Chicamocha valley, and a recently discovered new species for science (Thryophilus sernai) that is described in the current issue of The Auk: Carlos Esteban Lara et al. 2012: A new species of wren (Troglodytidae: Thryophilus) from the dry Cauca River Canyon, northwestern Colombia.
