Summary[edit] Description: Microcarbo africanus Afrikaans: Rietkormorant naby Fish Eagle Lodge op die Knysnastrandmeer, Wes-Kaap English: The Reed cormorant (Microcarbo africanus) is also known as the Long-tailed cormorant. This photo was taken at Fish Eagle Lodge, Knysna Lagoon in South Africa. There are only two species of inland cormorant in South Africa - the Reed cormorant and the White-breasted cormorant (Phalacrocorax lucidus) - so identification there is relatively straight forward.
