Summary[edit] Description: Hemaris diffinis (Boisduval, 1836) - snowberry clearwing moth in Ohio, USA. (photo by Mary Ellen St. John) This looks like a bumblebee, but it is not. This is a moth species that has evolved into a bumblebee mimic. The flowers are petunias, a group of about three dozen species of flowering plants that are native to South America. Some species have been extensively cultivated and hybridized for use as ornamental flowers.
