Hilaria jamesii (4087880416)

Image of Commelinids

Description:

Description: The terminal spike of Hilaria is superfically similar to that of a wheatgrass, particularly Hordeum. Each short lateral branch bears three spikelets with the central only being seed-bearing. These lateral branches disarticulate, much like those of Bouteloua curtipendula, leaving a naked main rachis of the inflorescence (unlike the shattering heads of Hordeum). Date: 8 November 2009, 16:55. Source: Hilaria jamesii Uploaded by Jacopo Werther. Author: Matt Lavin from Bozeman, Montana, USA.
