Ribes viburnifolium—Catalina perfume. Included in the CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants on list 1B.2 (rare, threatened, or endangered in CA and elsewhere). Listed by the State of California as imperiled. Also called Santa Catalina Island currant or evergreen currant (a name it shares with some other Ribes species). Found on Santa Catalina Island, at Imperial Beach in San Diego county and in Northwestern Baja California. The "perfume" refers to a spicy apple odor some people notice after a rain.
