Summary[edit] Description: Anacardiaceae (cashew family) » Schinus terebinthifolius var. acutifolius SKY-nus -- Greek name for Pistacia (the mastic tree, another genus) ter-ee-binth-ee-FOH-lee-us -- leaves like the Pistacia terebinthus (turpentine tree) commonly known as: aroeira, Bahamian holly (USA), Brazilian pepper, christmas berry, Florida holly, pepper tree, pink pepper, rose pepper Native to: subtropical and tropical South America.. the leaflets are featherlike and paired, except for the single leaflet on the tip.. leaf rachis between the leaflets is usually (but not invariably) slightly winged.. the whole leaf is 5-8 in long; they are arranged alternately on the twigs.. panicles (clusters) of tiny white flowers, followed by bright red berrylike drupes that persist... two varieties: acutifolius with leaves, 22 cm (7-15 leaflets), fruit pink.. terebinthifolius with leaves, 17 cm (5-13 leaflets), fruit red.
