Description:
I saw about 30 of this species this morning when I first arrived. They quickly hid as I waded out to photograph them. Although the lilypads cover much of the pond, they were concentrated in a small area. The Lilypad Forktails were associated with Brasenia schreberi (Water shield). There were also a few Spatterdock lilypads in the mix and I saw two Lilypad Forktails resting on the spatterdock leaves. However, all the other activity was on the Watershield.
