Description:

Mexican Scarlet-tail Planiplax sanguiniventris male Bentsen Rio Grande State Park, Hidalgo Co., Texas 23 June 2008 This was among the first records of this species in the U.S. Specimen material, under state permits, was collected and is in the Univ. of Texas Insect Collection. The species continues to show up in south Texas on occasion. I'll post other images later.
