Image of Asian Weaver Ant
Description:
Saw it during the Campus BioBlitz. Living at the garden besides LKK building. I found it at a tree base, moving around with other individuals. Oecophylla smaragdina is a weaver ant commonly found in Hong Kong. It is native species. The one observed was a worker, orange in colour, with strong legs and large mandibles. It will bite if you disturb him.
