Description:

Blackbird (juvenile?) eating kawakawa fruit. Bird would eat yellow fruit piece by piece, then test out semi-ripe fruit by pulling on them. If not ripe it would leave them. Monte Cecilia Park is blackbird central. I'd confidently guess close to 1000 birds in the park, particularly right now with all the juveniles. Good food source in the leaf litter, mature Morton Bay figs and many other trees.
