Description:
This was one of several members of this species walking around a small garden. They were close to what I believe were brussel sprouts. This insect has a red abdomen and small, purplish-blue wings. The color effect looks like Spiderman. The antennae had three evenly spaced segments. The wings did not appear to be capable of flight and I did not observe any individuals doing so. I think it is a bug, but if it is a beetle then perhaps these small outer wings were elytra covering functional wings.
