Image of Common Fiscal
Description:
"this is a common fiscal, or fiscal shrike, and also known as the ""butcher bird"" for it's shrike-like habit of impaling prey on thorns or barbed wire fences. On this occasion, the tables were turned and it was impaled itself and we released it and treated its wound. Sadly the prognosis was not good, it was a pectoral (flight muscle) that was harmed. That's John Halley on the assist and Johnny Wilson took the photos!"
