Image of Microstylum galactodes Loew 1866
Description:
This is one of the largest and most impressive robber fly species in North America. Like its relative, Microstylum morosum, this species is conspicuously large and obvious as it moves from perch to perch. ericisley and I along with another friend spent nearly 45 minutes following this one robber fly around and getting images on various perches. It was only the 2nd time we had seen the species, so a lot of fun.
