Description:
"Microstylum morosum Guadalupe River, Independence Park, Gonzales, Gonzales Co., Texas 3 July 2014 This is the largest robber fly species in the U.S. and a very impressive brute to see! We saw more of this species in one day than I ever have before. At two sites we observed in excess of 15 Microstylum morosum. There are several shots posted here including one with the robber hanging by one leg while feeding on a grasshopper which we saw it catch in mid air with an audible ""Thawack!"""
