Description:
I found this Kirtland's Snake in Ohio on October 24, 2010. The map is inaccurate. I have decided not to mark the exact location as I feel this is a rather rare and sensitive creature. I hope someone more familiar with iNaturalist chimes in on how I can record such a sighting without putting any sensitive creatures at risk. I'm also curious if it is alright to post observations from years past, such as this one. This snakes was found, presumably, en route to its favored hibernacula. It was a rather warm day, remarkably productive for snakes, with a whopping eight species recorded along a small stretch of prime wildlife habitat.
