Description:

Nesticodes rufipes, the red house spider, is a species of araneomorph spider from the Theridiidae family of genus Nesticodes. Widespread spider, females to 7mm, males to about 5mm. Dark brown, slightly mottled, globular abdomen, red-brown legs and cephalothorax. This spider builds a small, tangled web in dark corners inside houses or under rims of garden pots and similar structures. It is said to be capable of causing mild to severe local pain, but bites are unlikely as it is rather timid.
