Description:

Bird was preening and had what looked like a fish hook & line caught in its right wing. It was high tide and the shag was resting on a low hanging branch beside the new Taumanu Reserve boardwalk. There's a colony of pied shags at this location and when they're not feeding in the harbour, they roost on the large power pylons. http://naturewatch.org.nz/observations/5166369
