Image of Common Snapping Turtle
Description:
Mature snapping turtle consuming carrion. Observed individual for about 20 minutes. Periodically, the snapper raised its head above water for a a few seconds and then returned to active feeding. From my overhead vantage point, I believe I was either not seen or not perceived as a threat?
