Description:

The Gogo or Black noddy (Anous minutus) can reach a height of 37 cm, which is smaller and blacker than the Brown Noddy, and another difference way of flying. It has black plumage and a whitish cap, a small white crescent under each eye and a white spot above. It has long tapering wings and a truncated tail. The sharply-pointed bill is black as are the feet, which are fully webbed. In good light they are separated from Brown Noddies that have a distinct brown and black pattern on the wings. Black Noddies are more often seen feeding in flocks with manusina than are Brown Noddies. The diet of the gogo is apparently similar to that of the manusina, since both birds feed on small fish and squid captured near the surface. Reference: Watling, Dick and Kelly, Chloe Talbot. 2001.
