Image of Nyssus coloripes Walckenaer 1805
Description:
This is Supunna picta, an Aussie immigrant widespread across New Zealand. It's small - 7 - 10 mm - and runs very quickly for short bursts before stopping dead. I haven't seen them in Wellington, but they've apparently been expanding their range further south in the last few years. I shot this one at the front door of my parents' house in Central Otago, last summer.
