Image of American oystercatcher

Description:

Whenever I am on the dike or near the shoreline I always look for banded American Oystercatchers. I volunteer as a monitor for a project involving them and I just enjoy watching them as well. Well spring is in the air, AMOY set up territories in early January and this pair is courting. To bad there were no bands on these birds . . . I thought you may like to see a sequence of the courtship - a couple are a bit soft, but the light was horrible and I posted the best of the sequence for you to look at. I decided to chase a rarity this morning and to see if I could refind the second banded Snowy Plover from yesterday. The sun came and went several times this morning so the photography was very poor today. While I did see my first Galveston County Brown Booby, I did not get a photo that was useable.
