Image of Palpada vinetorum (Fabricius 1799)

Description:

This guy I thought was a honey bee but as I looked more closely I noticed he did have what appeared to be similar markings. This was mimicry at it's best. Tried to device me this guy did. I think he was some sort of fly. He was only about an inch or so and looked like a honey bee but clearly had different shaped eyes, and different color patter that's different from regular bees. It is an warning that protects this fly from danger even though he is not dangerous at all. His winds resemble a fly's wings. This insect looks like a hodgepodge of fly and bee combine.
