Image of Aeshna persephone Donnelly 1961
Description:
These images taken 28 Aug 2015 at the west fork of the Gila River on the edge of the parking lot to the Gila Cliff Dwellings. This male darner was identified as Persephone's Darner at the time but I wanted more time to study the images. Unfortunately these are the best shots I could get as it was perched up about 10-12 feet. I tried to catch it for in-hand images but was unsuccessful. I have since discussed the bug with jnstuart and we feel it is probably Persephone's Darner.
