Description:
2011-02-12 Lower Austria, district Gnserndorf (just outside the national park - broadleaf forest, 155 m AMSL).German name: sterreich-KelchbecherlingID: not a 100% certain; I have been told by Heinz Forstinger at naturbeobachtung_at that while ID is likely to be correct it would be necessary to check under the microscope to be sure, however I couldn't yet deliver clear microscopic evidence for this one.Update: I've finally managed to take a shot of the hair on the outer shell (which should be smooth with this species, which is the case), so S. austriaca should indeed be the correct identification.Synonymy: Lachnea austriaca, Molliardiomyces coccineus, Peziza austriaca, Peziza imperialis (Index Fungorum - Species Fungorum) for Sarcoscypha austriaca var. austriaca; no synonyms yet for the newly described (on moist acorn wood in Austria) var. lutea.
